Sixt - Bait & Switch rip-off for foreign travelers
Sixt rental in Den Haag Central (Holland) confirmed an online reservation for an automatic SUV with GPS @***.25 Euro/day. At pick up, they said they have none available (I heard 2 other foreigners being told the same thing!!).
Said only manual sedan came with GPS: being stuck, I accepted; but clutch was adjusted too high, so did not leave the premises with it. Suddenly an automatic sedan with GPS was available at "a special bargain" (not a bargain, but stuck for my travel). The GPS was not responsive, but I managed to reach my friends house with her directions. I called sixt to pick up the car for 30Euros.
They refused to adjust the bill. I have filed a dispute with Discover card - safe practice!
I will never deal with sixt again, period. Better have a foreign friend personally reserve vehicle before your travels begin.
Reason of review: Bait & Switch treachery.
Monetary Loss: $190.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Sixt Pros: Online offer.
Sixt Cons: Bait and switch to defraud me, Lied about special deal then charged exorbitant fees, Sociopathic in creating stress for clients.
Location: Buffalo, New York
